Overview

WineCellar helps you track wines locally on your device and optionally contribute wine information to a shared community database.

Data We Process

The app may process the following data:

• Wine details you enter (for example: name, producer, year, country, rating, quantity, barcode)
• Photos you capture in the app or select from your device gallery
• Lookup/search requests (for example: barcode and text search queries)
• Admin sign-in credentials (email/password) if you use admin moderation features

Local Data Storage

Your cellar data and photos are stored locally on your device by default. You can also export backups (JSON + photos) and import backups using files you choose.

Optional Community Submission

When adding or editing a wine, you can choose to submit that wine to a community database. Submission is optional and opt-in.

• Required for submission: barcode
• Optional in submission: wine fields and photo (if you enable photo sharing)
• Community submissions are moderated before they become searchable

Third-Party Services

This app uses the following external services:

• Supabase for community database, photo storage, and admin authentication
• OpenFoodFacts for barcode-based product lookup

When you use lookup/search features, barcode and text queries may be sent to these services. The Start/latest community feeds may also request approved community wine records from Supabase. When you opt in to community submission, selected wine data and optional photos are uploaded to Supabase.

Permissions

The app requests CAMERA permission to:

• Scan barcodes
• Capture wine photos

Gallery selection uses Android's system file picker. The app does not request broad photo library/storage permission for this feature.

You may deny camera permission, but scan/photo features will not work.

Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. Data is shared only as needed to provide app features (for example: lookup requests, optional community submission, and optional admin moderation sign-in).

Data Retention

Local cellar data remains on your device until you delete it, wipe app data, uninstall the app, or overwrite it via import. Community submissions stored in Supabase may remain until removed by moderation/admin actions. Admin moderation tools can remove community wine records and related unreferenced images.

Children's Privacy

This app is not directed to children under 13.

Security

We use reasonable measures to protect data, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

Your Choices

• You can use the app without community submission
• You can choose whether to include photos in community submission
• You can choose to capture a photo or select one from gallery
• You can deny camera permission
• You can wipe local data from Settings

We may update this policy from time to time. Updates will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above.
